Slow but Sure - 40T flat bottomed silo with quad screw discharger for granular food ingredients

Nightingale designed, manufactured and installed a silo discharger to the underside of a new 40 tonne silo. The discharger weighs 15 tonnes and consists of four contra rotating screws, the screws individually rotate at up to 2 rpm in a pre-designed operating pattern to ensure level discharging of the silo and to minimise the bridging characteristics of the product. To cope with a potentially explosive atmosphere the discharger is designed to withstand a 250 tonne load created by an explosion event within the silo. Power and torque monitoring is ongoing to further enhance our in house calculations with empirical feedback data.

Shiny Mingler

Our client asked Nightingale to reverse engineer a Mingler assembly which was constantly failing. The Mingler is used for mixing food ingredients. Nightingale carried out site surveys on the existing machine, improved the rigidity of the assembly and manufactured a new Mingler in stainless steel. Finally we were asked “Could you make it shiny?” We asked how shiny? They said “very shiny”. The results I’m sure you will agree are “very shiny”. If you need to replace components for your old machines and have no drawings or spares please contact us, we will do our best to help.
